Can you please stop this…
July 31, 2008

80’s Glasses (although these are still considered trendy, I know), Kanye West Glasses, Fake Moustaches, and those stupid headbands every 12 year old girl is wearing (I know, I’m a substitute teacher)…just stop..please…before it becomes this:

Purse Backpacks and Watch Rings (you know what I’m talking about, girls!)
Stop. It’s not ironic anymore.

Real post explaining Greece (and more) will come soon enough…
Kinky, isn’t it? (Part 1)
July 5, 2008
Okay. So if you’re reading my blog, I assume you know me. Or at least have seen me.
That being said, you all know I have curly hair. Now, it has taken me a while now to finally accept my hair. I was born bald, so my hair didn’t really grow out until I was about 3 or 4 (but I would like to point out, I was still the cutest baby ever). Once it did grow out, I had ringlets. However, at some point in my life, my hair went more straight than curly, and my mom felt the need to brush my hair out. Therefore, I didn’t realize I had curly hair until 7th grade when my sister decided “hey, let’s put mousse in your hair and scrunch it and see what happens.” So I did, and viola! Curly Hair!
I hated my curly hair. I continued to brush it out until the end of the summer right before high school, where I decided there is no way I’m going to high school with frizzy, disgusting hair.
In high school and college, I still hated my hair. You don’t realize how great it feels to brush your hair all the time until you can’t really brush it. I would straighten my hair on occasion (or make people straighten my hair for me), but most people hated it! Even today, when I straighten my hair, I get a few family members/friends/coworkers saying, “oh…I like your hair curly…”
Anyway, to make a long story short, I get compliments on my hair all the time, people get pissed off at me and have even threatened to stop hanging out with me if I ever chemically straighten my hair, and it is low maintenance (I just wash it, comb it, put mousse in it, scrunch it, and air dry it)! So, if so many people like my hair, why does it seem that every celebrity that has ever had curly hair goes straight? It’s like Millionaire Matchmaker when the matchmaker makes all the curly haired girls go straight on their first dates.
Example 1: Kathy Griffin

During Suddenly Susan. Did anybody actually watch that show besides my parents?

Kathy Griffin now, with a Creative Arts Emmy?! Figures she would get one, once she went straight.
*Note: I’m actually glad that Kathy Griffin went straight. I think she’s obnoxious and refuse to be in the same hair category as her.
Example 2: Keri Russell

Growing up watching Mickey Mouse Club and Felicity (yeah, I admit it), I wanted to be her! I thought she had the most beautiful hair ever! This might be one of the reasons why I refuse to cut my hair.
However, she went away after “Felicity” for a long long time, and came back looking like this:

Not curly. Now she is in leading film roles such as Waitress, August Rush, and Wonder Woman!
*Note: She was in films prior to Felicity, but they were mostly child roles and it doesn’t count. Everybody likes a cute curly-haired girl (not so much a cute curly-haired woman).
Example 3: Debra Messing

Yeah, I really don’t care about this one too much, but I am going to say, it was pretty difficult to find a picture of her with curly hair on google images (I’m not going to lie, I didn’t look that hard). Uh, didn’t she have her hair curly throughout Will and Grace?
Example 4: Minnie Driver

Yeah, I’m not a big fan of her, either. But I would like to point out that she did get pregnant AFTER she straightened her hair. Figures.
See also: Rebecca Gayheart, Julia Margulies, and many many more, I’m sure.
Okay I’m wrapping this up now. My attention span is gone. I would like to point out some curly-haired women that have kept their locks just they were (even though, some of them have changed it up a bit on occasion):
Sarah Jessica Parker (She switches it up, which is fine. She hasn’t gone completely straight…yet)
Taylor Swift (I have never heard any of her music, but she is so fricken’ cute)
Shakira (I guess I will count her in here)
Wow…I just wrote the longest blog ever about hair.
It’s all in the numbers.
July 4, 2008
As of last night, I’m officially out of 7vs7: Spokane, and I cannot be more happy.
I have decided to give you a few numbers that were important during my time in the competition (they are actually not important, just pretend):
1: Number of bottles of wine I drank (yeah I thought I would drink more too)
7: Pounds I lost during the competition
1.4: Pounds I have gained since yesterday
8.5: Approximate amount of beverages I consumed last night in celebration.
20: Approximate amount of dollars I spent yesterday afternoon on apples and apple products (juice, chips, dried)
14: Number of oranges I have left (don’t worry, I will eat them)
100 or more: Approximate number of strands of hair that have fallen out since yesterday, thanks to lack of protein (I’m guessing)
3.75: Days I lasted!
91: Approximate number of hours I lasted!
and most importantly 0: Number of regrets I have for eating that yummy yummy cheesecake!
As Geneva put it: “We may have lost, but we have won. The people that are suffering for the next couple of days are the real losers.”
Anyway, GOOD LUCK PAUL! I’m off to a BBQ in less than an hour, where I will consume as much protein as possible!
I’m out!
July 4, 2008

Sorry everybody. Cheesecake got me!
More later!
Apple Jacks?
July 3, 2008
Last night I had a dream I ate Apple Jacks cereal.

This is weird since I don’t even really remember Apple Jacks cereal that much (obviously my subconscious does). I’m convinced it’s because I have apples as one of my ingredients, so maybe I thought it was okay to eat Apple Jacks?! But then again, I remember eating them and thinking “Oh no! I lost!”
If I’m going to lose at this point, it won’t be because of Apple Jacks.
On another note, this morning and yesterday morning, I have woken up feeling great and refreshed! I don’t know if it’s because of the lack of coffee intake or artificial sugar intake or what..but it’s definitely a nice change from waking up feeling groggy!
Also, Bart is out.
Day Three is Almost Over (Thank Goodness)
July 3, 2008
So instead of whining and complaining about how hungry I am, how much weight I have lost since Monday (4.4 pounds), how I am still unable to cook for myself and how black beans/rice/cheese are getting really old, I thought I would write about different things I am grateful for.
1. I am grateful that I did not choose these items as my 7 ingredients:
Spam

(Even though I’m sure that counts as several ingredients)
Sardines

(Never have and never will try them)
Olives

(Gross)
Potatoes

(As much as I love french fries and potato chips, I hate mashed and baked potatoes more)
2. I am grateful for everyone who has fed me over the past years. If it wasn’t for you, I would either be morbidly obese or malnourished by now. These people include:
Mari
Most importantly, my Mother
(there are others, but they should not be mentioned)
3. I am grateful for living off of these foods for the past two years.
Phad See-Iew from Thai Bamboo
Campbell’s Soup At Hand Tomato Soup
Goldfish Crackers
4. Other things I’m grateful for:
My parent’s being on the NutriSystem diet, so there is absolutely no food left in the house for me to eat!
Apples! I will never get tired of them!
Having a variety of food that I can eat on a normal day (not this week)!
Working downtown so I never have to worry about bringing sack lunches.
Bringing my own food to work this week so I can save money!
And much much more, I’m sure.
Anyway, what I have eaten today:
Breakfast
Apple Sauce
Mid-day Snack
Orange
Lunch/Dinner
Rice/Black Beans/Cheddar Cheese
Cucumber
Apple
After-Dinner Snack
Apple Sauce
And now I’m about to have a glass of white wine! Also, Check out everyone else who is doing this 7vs7 with me..go look at my Blogroll on the left side!
and check out Hip As Fuck and see what went down at the blend off last night.
I made it through Day Two!
July 2, 2008
Today was a lot harder than I thought. I realize now might be a good time to learn how to cook. Right now all I know how to do is cook my rice with the rice cooker, warm up my black beans on the stove, and shred some cheese on top! Well, I also know how to eat my oranges, apples, and cucumbers raw. This is going get old really quick.
However, I did bring a big ziploc bag to work full of oranges and apples and just left it on the table! At work I kept thinking, “oh, a coffee sounds good right about now” and “I should go get a mint from my boss’s office” but no..I can’t.
Here’s a recap of what I have eaten today:
Breakfast
Apple
Snack
Orange
4 PM Lunch/Dinner
Reheated rice, black beans, and cheese.
Apple
Cucumber
Dinner?
All my ingredients blended together! *Stay tuned to Hip As Fuck for more about that later!
After Dinner Snack
Apple Juice
And yep…that’s it. I need new recipes…obviously.
First Day!
July 1, 2008
I officially didn’t have all my ingredients until about 5 pm. Which left with me little to no ingredients beforehand. I started my day with apple juice, then I had an apple that I had to steal from my parents. Then around 3 pm, I decided to go to Costco.
I decided the worst place to go while hungry with a limited diet is to Costco. They had samples of everything, from cake to mozzarella to blueberries! I was in hell, but I made it through! I think if I can survive Costco, I can definitely survive the rest of the week.
So, by the time I got to actually eating anything, it was dinner time. Here’s a picture of my amazing dinner:
I know you’re jealous.
And now, I’m currently enjoying my dessert:
Which is also amazing. That’s all..I still have 4 more hours left in the first day…but so far it hasn’t been hard! We’ll see how the rest of the week goes!
